We provide information to all year 10 and 11 students about the reality of homelessness and the value of mediation in relation to preventing homelessness.

Many people leave home every year because they don’t feel they can stay any longer. One of the main reasons given for moving out is ‘family breakdown’ and one of the most common problems is people not being able to talk and listen to each other.

Mediation offers a way for the family to start talking again. It doesn’t have to include the whole family, but it could involve a brother or sister, mum or dad, aunt, step-parents, grandparents, partners or in fact anyone who is concerned about the situation. The mediators are not there to take sides or tell you what to do. They will listen to what has been happening and, with you, try to find a way forward
